Karen's Top 9

My little miracle is not so little anymore.  I can really feel the difference in my body, and it's noticeable when I try to do the simplest of tasks.  When I get in the car and buckle my seatbelt, that takes some extra effort.  If I sit down on a chair with ease, I don't necessarily get back up in the same style.  And if I look down, it's not my toes that I see anymore.

But all in all, I've really gotten to appreciate the upside of pregnancy--I'm going to document it now, so that when I'm 9 months along and feeling all sorts of not-so-positive things, I can reflect on this whole experience and remember that all those minor "inconveniences" are only temporary, and it's the immense love and tremendous joy stemming from a new life that is lasting.

Top 9 Reasons to Love Being Pregnant:

Note: Top 9 so as not to compete with Letterman and because there are 9 glorious months of this epic and memorable journey.  And because I couldn't think of a #10...yet. :)

9.  Whether those extra inches were there before pregnancy or not, they're a part of the whole package now, and no one would dare say anything other than how great you look.

8.  The absence of the monthly visitor.  What an awesome biological blessing.

7.  Wherever you are, people offer up the best seat in the house for you.  And most times it comes with something to put your feet up on.

6.  No more setting the alarm clock...nature is so kindly waking you up at regular intervals to go pee.

5.  Stretchy, comfy, elastic-waisted pants are not just for old grandmas in the buffet line--they are a totally acceptable part of your wardrobe.

4.  A whole new variety of colorful words you've never even thought of before now suddenly make their way into your regular lexicon.

3.  Watching loving and supportive family members get protective when there are strange fumes, people using microwaves, or anyone smoking anywhere NEAR your vicinity.

2.  Learning about all the pads, pillows, and positions necessary just to get one person comfy and happy.

1.  Having a really damn good excuse for frequent absentmindedness and spontaneous tears.

This week: Doctor appoinment went very well.  Heartbeat was 145. The baby boy is very active as I feel him swimming around like a goldfish in my belly very regularly now.  He's the size of a mango or papaya now.  Next appointment: March 27.
