Have a Little More Funnel

She's a heart breaker, dream taker, list maker don't you mess around, no no no!

(Sorry, Pat Benatar, I'll stop now.)

What's on your To-Do List for today?

Sure, I make lists.  The poor things just never get utilized for what they were intended.  One of them got called into duty as the catch-all for a piece of gum and a school of goldfish crackers on the floor of the back seat.  Several others lay abandoned at the bottommost layer of my purse where pennies and 3 year old cough drops reside.

Sadly, my lists never seem to live out to their full listly potential.  Or they get started, but then I can't seem to remember what else I was going to write.  Because I need a list to remember what goes on my lists.  And that's just sorta pathetic.

I also have a list of things I'd like to do.  But it's not a bucket list because buckets retain things.  Mine is more of a funnel list.  I'll put it in there, but some of the stuff will inevitably fall through to the bottom and not get done.  Despite not being able to check everything off, I still like to live large (at least in my own mind), and dream about doing things.
How many times have you made a grocery list, or a list of things you'd like to accomplish in a day, but unexpected events enter in, and you find yourself juggling several other tasks that you hadn't carved out time for?  It happens to us all the time.

Since becoming a mom, I've learned that you can make all the plans you want to, but sometimes, things have to wait.  And that's okay, because the important stuff always gets done.  Like eating cheese doodles and doing People Crossword Puzzlers.

The good news is that there's no time limit on funnel lists.  If it falls through once, run it through again in a few days, weeks, months, or years.  However long it takes you.  Funnel's got all the same perks as his brother Bucket, but he's more flexible and less demanding.  Just have fun with funnel.
My Funnel List
Eat better.
Sleep more.
Save money.
Exercise more.
Attend a retreat.
Throw stuff away.
Make a living will.
Organize my closets.
See the Grand Canyon.
Have a positive attitude.
Keep the positive attitude.
Get a bicycle and go riding.
Change my hairstyle or color.
Clean out my kitchen cabinets.
Sign up for some sort of lessons.
Get better at organizing my photos.
Do a fun home improvement project.
Become a member of the Phoenix Zoo.
Go to an Arizona Cardinals football game.
Take the light rail into the city with Jackie.
Plan and commit to a date night once a week.
Get our Monday night poker game going again.
Catch up on all of the seasons of Glee I've missed.
Instead of doubling up, just go buy more chip clips.
Find a way to archive my favorite voicemail messages.
Go away for a weekend with my sisters, no kids, no guys.
Gather up my best girls and have a singing and jam session.
Write down all advice that my grandparents have shared with me.
Curtail potty mouth lauguage and start practicing to say "oh fudge."
Have a family reunion with all my cool family members in Las Vegas.
Go to my next doctor's appointment (in November) at least 20 lbs lighter.
If I'm not 20 pounds lighter, explain to the doc that I'm still a work in progress.
Try a new recipe at least once a week, and buy more trash can liners just in case. ;(
Remember that life is short, so we better have as much fun while we are still young. ;)
Young is whatever you envision, as I have seen plenty of grannies shopping at Forever 21.
Embrace my age right now and love myself because when I'm 64, I won't look this awesome.
Search the Internet for a recipe for funnel cake & make it because now I really want to eat some.
Try a new kind of cheese once a week until I've tried them all, except Limburger, it's so totally gross.

    1. Haha, Christabelle! You DEF made the cut! Love you!!! See you soon, and maybe we can cross off some of my funnel list! But I'll have to edit out the 20 lb weight loss part. We'll be having too much funnel for that. :)
