May Showers of Love

I admit it, I was spoiled this weekend.  I thought last year's birthday was wonderful, but this year I celebrated Mother's Day ON my birthday, and my family and friends went out of their way to make me feel special.  I got treated to cards, homemade carrot cake (thank you Grandma!), gifts, out to breakfast, and just some of the most heartfelt messages, like this one from my amazing Kayleigh.
This was the best card because it reminded me that even when I'm heating up frozen chicken nuggets, trying to help with homework questions, burning the chicken nuggets, and online-ordering a pizza, I am still making a difference to these awesome kids.  I am so lucky to be a mother AND a stepmom.

What, you didn't think I knew how to online order a pizza?  Well, I just turned another year older so my wisdom is apparently growing exponentially.

Aunt Eleanor and "Unclin" Sal (as Philly called him) were visiting from New York for their Grandson Tommy's graduation from ASU.  They got to meet Jackson for the first time.  I warned Aunt El that she should have lifted weights before holding him.

On Saturday night, my cousin Ally and her friend Rochelle came over so Kayleigh could do their hair for Senior Prom.  Talk about a tall order!  I was even nervous for her!  But Kayleigh did not crack under the pressure, and she did an amazing job!  They both got variations of a braid, swept to the side or in back, with an old Hollywood glam look, and they looked beautiful!  The girls were so thrilled, and I was so proud of Kayleigh!

The girls found their hairstyle inspirations on pinterest.  I guess that's where all the cool kids are hanging out nowadays.  I am no Vidalia Sassoon...but I did put my crafty paws together to make this laundry detergent mobile to hang in our laundromat.  How about that, Pinterest?

And this is my birthday mushroom.  Hand made and embroidered with love by my lovely and mega talented friend, Ruthie.  She makes things.  Like a lot of things.  Wonderful things.  She's just awesome.  And pinnable.  Pinterest would DEVOUR her with a bag of chips, if they could do that sort of thing.  But they can't afford her.  Her pinterest rate is priceless.
And now, you'll have to please excuse me while I go take a nap.  I have a small case of the Berenstain Bears and Too Much Eating an Entire Carrot Cake.  I feel like Vanna White after 5 puzzles and a Bonus Round of running from one direction to the other, while 10 month old contestants shout out their demands like "I'll take a piece of cheese!" or "Can I buy a diaper change!"
I didn't solve any puzzles or win a trip to Fiji.  But I'm as happy as a clam to be so loved.  Thank you all for my birthday and Mother's Day wishes.  God bless!
