Educational TV: A 1st Birthday Message

mustloveleftovers.com
The AMAZING RACE of time took off,
and just in this last year,
THREE'S COMPANY became a FULL HOUSE
as we welcomed a new one with CHEERS!
BROTHERS AND SISTERS, now one of each
in a MODERN FAMILY tree,
And our HAPPY DAYS are blessed with BIG LOVE
and 7TH HEAVENly GLEE.
We took on DIRTY JOBS and witnessed many
DAMAGES to our CASTLE.
But we learned to take it ONE DAY AT A TIME
and GET SMART with all the hassle.
Morning comes quickly, I hear THE VOICE,
and I know my "extended nap" is through.
Cause my ANGEL is up and the HOUSE is his turf
I'll soon be calling NYPD BLUE.
With no TOP CHEF nor THE NANNY
we realized HOME IMPROVEMENT can wait,
We're BREAKING BAD habits and teaching our kids
and we're trying so GIMME A BREAK.
Through LOST brain cells and KITCHEN NIGHTMARES,
over this PROJECT RUNWAY we made it across,
And ALL IN THE FAMILY found out the FACTS OF LIFE
(that MAMA is the one WHO'S THE BOSS!)
This AMERICAN DAD and this WONDER WOMAN
had their fair share of GROWING PAINS,
But thankfully, there were no ER trips,
and the LAW AND ORDER still remains.
It's hard to believe it's been a year
since the day our BOY MEETS WORLD,
And when his sister and I take him out for a trip,
we're left with TWO BROKE GIRLS.
There are days I'm BEWITCHED and bewildered
cause 24 hours just simply won't do it
But THE CLOSER I get to bedtime,
30 ROCKs and he's out, nothing to it.
Don't CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM yet, FRIENDS
because the WONDER YEARS are just beginning,
And though sometimes the CHIPS will fall where they may,
most days it still feels like we're "winning."

Written with love,
Your Mama

Happy First Birthday
to our little Jack of Hearts.
Thank you for "educating" us
each and every day.
We love you, baby boy!

Thank You For Being A Friend

When it comes to amazing people, I can say without a doubt,
To have Tara as your friend means you really did luck out.
I wrote her a poem in high school, but can only recall the first line,
So it's time to update the things I love about this awesome friend of mine.

A listener, counselor, and partner in crime,
She has always come through for me, time after time.

With strong family values and heart of pure gold,
Her inspiring selflessness never gets old.

Whatever the season, occasion, or day,
She always has something uplifting to say.

If I needed someone to help me, she would,
If I wanted a friend to sing songs with, she's good!

The Cranberries, Meatloaf, renditions of Phish,
(how fitting, these bands are all some kind of "dish").

As classmates and friends, through all kinds of weather,
Bonfires, Daytona, Las Vegas together.

Bike rides, babysitting, beaches, the mall
(Though she hates to go shopping, she still does it all).

It doesn't take much to get her to smile,
Her bigum, and tickle her feet for awhile.

She's charmingly funny, gracefully unaware,
That she cracks me up with her "Hark-who goes there?"

She's close with the angels, and is just like one too.
She strengthens my faith in all that is true.

When it comes to her family, no task is too large,
She's up there with Carol, Claire, Edith, and Marge.

She demonstrates love with a rich dedication,
She has my respect and my deep adoration.

The older we turn, the more I'm impressed,
She's just fed 5 kids, and I'm not even dressed.

But she's never judgmental, she's been in my shoes,
She's proof that friends are the family you choose.

She smiles and tells me I'm doing just fine,
Starts singing Carry On, and pours me some wine.

This girl is a Godsend, a friend and a treasure,
Her love is a blessing and gift beyond measure!

Happy Birthday, sweet Tara!
Love, Karen Lynn

This Father's Day

This post was originally published 2 months before our nearly 1-year old boy was born.  But it's all still true.  And then some.

My Baby's Daddy

You will soon meet him, but before you are here,
I want to tell you about someone so dear--your Daddy.

He has a smile that will melt your heart,
He'll make your day happy right from the start.

You'll soon find out, he's the cream of the crop,
He'll keep you laughing til you just cannot stop.

He'll teach you about loyalty and being a man,
And you'll want to be around him whenever you can.

He'll humor your ideas and be a great Dad,
But please, son, watch out if you do make him mad.

He will always be himself, you'll learn all his charms.
And he's never been more ready to hold you in his arms.

Can't wait for you to meet him!
Hope you turn out to be just like him.

Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy!
