Keep Holding On

While visiting family in Indiana at the end of 2013, my very dear friends Ruthie and her husband Brian spent their new year in the hospital.  She was 20 weeks pregnant.  Despite all of the love present, prayers both silent and spoken, tears shed, and the support of friends and family gripping to every hope, sadly, their sweet baby did not make it.  He was a beautiful boy, and they named him Cormac Michael.
His story is one that resonated deep within me and I was grieving for their loss more than I could have ever imagined.  When the heart is hurting, it's very difficult to find words.  Along with many others, I am still praying daily that this family will continue to heal.  I know that God is taking care of them.  And He is smiling while holding sweet Cormac in His hands.  A perfect little soul.  Keep holding on, Ruthie.  You are going to be okay.  I love you.  We all love you.  We are with you.
Love, Karen
Not flesh of my flesh Nor bone of my bone, But still miraculously my own.  Never forget for a single minute: you didn’t grow under my heart, but in it.    -Fleur Conkling Heyliger

  3. Karen I just saw your blog post and that was seriously the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. I know Ruthie and I aren't really close but I've been so terribly upset for their loss. Not that any family should have to go through that, but they are just such a beautiful family and she's such a wonderful mom. That little boy would have been loved and cherished beyond belief and It just kills me that they didn't have more time with their sweet little boy. I think your post today was just wonderful. Ruthie's incredibly lucky to have a friend like you.
    Lots of love,

Karen, What a beautiful tribute to your friend, Ruth and husband, Brian....Even though I don't know her, I can feel her pain in their loss...Nice of you to take the time to put that collage(sp) together. Hi to your grandma and Aunt Mary and all...Love, Aunt F

Dearest Karen, we just went to a wake/funeral yesterday. Son Andy came up from Manhattan (where he lives) on Fri. p.m. for the wake and his wife came up on the train on Sat. to be with Andy. Andy and Keith have been best friends since being in Scouting together. Well, Keith's son has gone thru a lot of rehab, etc., and this past wk. took an overdose of heroin...and need I say more. There were so many young people Christopher's age (22) at the funeral. So many people hurting and we are hurting right along with them. I know how you are feeling but God will get us all thru these sad times.

  4. Ugh this broke my heart. I'm sending so much light and love your way and to your friend and her loved ones. Nobody ever imagines losing a child. Nobody ever knows why anyone loses a child. But things happen for reasons whether we believe it or not. Your friend is surrounded by her and her son's spirit guides so they will help her heal in the amount of time she needs, however long or short that may be. *hugs* <3
