Made In America

Did you know that Tic Tacs are made in Canada?
Rawlings baseballs are made in Costa Rica.
Converse/Chuck Taylor's are made in Indonesia.
And Brach's candy is made in Mexico.

(Are you feeling smarter already?  Good, that's my goal for today, a little cocktail for the brain)

3 of those 4 items were made in America at one time, but they are now being manufactured elsewhere due to companies going belly up or selling out.  I really prefer to buy products made in our good old U S of A, and though I realize it's not always possible, at least it's nice to have the knowledge.

As parents, we are challenged (or forced, really) to multi-task on a daily basis.  Do you wanna have 6 more hands?  Sure!  We all do.

Well, then I say...what better way to do 2 great things at once than by, 1) being a totally awesome mom (biased description) AND, 2) helping to save our floundering economy? (unbiased description)

I didn't say we could fix everything, but you know, the whole brick by brick thing.

These 10 products are still made in America and therefore, I will add them to my official product queue.  (Like Netflix only they don't show up in my mailbox.  Ooh, but add that little brainchild to my queue also!)

Duraflame fire logs
Instead of wrapping my cold tootsies in a blanket, I could wrangle everyone up, turn off SNL (in actuality, Bob The Builder), and head outside for some marshmallow burning and a catharsis of song ending in "He's Got The Whole World In His Hands."  Alright then, I promise not to sing and to just provide the marshmallows.

Spanx
Whiz-bang!  I can already check one off my list.  I own one, but I haven't used it since the time I busted a sweat trying to get that squeeze sock on.  Google "how sausage is made and stuffed" and I bet you'll get the idea.

Sub-zero refrigerator
Dear Santa Claus, As you know, I have been very very good this year...

Harley-Davidson motorcycles
Well, cross my name off the car pool sign up sheet and let me find my bandanna!  Sorry, kids, but I'll be two-wheeling it.  See you punk rats at the school!

Kitchen Aid mixer
Yes, Mrs. Johnson, I would be HONORED to run the bake sale.
(Karen has now left.  She had Phil's checkbook and was squealing something about Bed Bath & Beyond.  But you can continue reading...)

Weber grill
I could try and master the art of grilling.  Because what doesn't taste better with a thin layer of crispy charcoal breading?

Post-it notes
You mean I can help support our economy AND leave honey-do lists??  Loving this 10 step plan.

Oreck XL vacuum cleaner
This one will have to wait a little longer, as Jackie is still crazier than Toucan Sam without his fruit loops when the vacuum is running.  I've just come to the conclusion that he doesn't like to see me overexert myself, probably.  Yeah, that's it. :)

Pyrex
Whether it's for games like Bozo's Buckets or "beverage pong," who doesn't like strong, fashionable glassware?  My mom totally had these bowls!------------------------------------------------------>

Intel chips
The word chips just makes me hungry.  Unless "intel" is some fancy new way of saying sour cream and onion, I'm not really swayed one way or the other.  But my laptop says "intel," so we're good.

MADE IN AMERICA
Before you go making a phone call, don't worry, these weren't even hooked up yet. (During some recent renovations at the laundromat.)
