A Pug Named Gus

To My Dearest Father-in-Law, Big Phil,

Brownie here.  I just wanted to tell you how proud of you I am for being so strong and helping Gussie transition from her life here on Earth.  No other person could have loved her as much as you did. You took care of her and gave her everything she ever needed.  She was your dog.  And she loved you with all of her being.  She is definitely in Doggie Heaven.  For Pete's sake she had to put up with you all these years.  And she will always hold a special place in our hearts.

I know it's not easy to say good-bye, and this is one of the hardest things you've ever had to do, but you have tons of wonderful memories and she'll always live on through the fun times we had.   We will all miss her. Every time I eat a banana, I'll think of Gus (She's having all the bananas her heart desires now).  When I finish a Popsicle, I'll think of how she used to lick the stick. All those dang sticks.  And when I see a small dog trying to attack another dog 7 times its size, I'll remember little Gussie, the sweet dog we loved.

She is happy and will be waggin' her tail up there with Shadow and all her other dog friends. Just hope she hasn't listened to you too much and starts calling the other dogs "fatso" and yelling at them when they sneeze. But I'm sure she will cause she'll want to make you proud.

Bless her little doggie heart.  May she rest in peace.

Guss-er-oo...love you!

Love, Karen

There she is on the left, celebrating with us the day Philly proposed to me.
And there she is again, always near the food.  Ready for when someone sneaks drops a piece.

Love you, Gussie!

  1. Aw, so sad. It's always hard to lose a part of the family.
