Spring Break: A Love Story

This past week, Kayleigh was out of school for Spring Break.  We really enjoyed all the extra time
with her.  Jackson is in love with his big sister, and the feeling is mutual--these two are so sweet together.

There was grocery shopping and (several) Starbucks runs.
And laughing.
Lots of extra playing time at home.
More laughing.
Walks to the park for swinging and basketball.
Guttural laughing.
Singing and playing the flute, guitar, and keyboard.
Aaaand changing our pants now (from all the laughing).
Kayleigh even changed her first dirty diaper.  And it was a doozy.
(No laughing there.)

Kayleigh has been learning and helping for months now, and she is pretty much the best babysitter you could ask for.  She is a natural!  She will watch and care for Jackie this Saturday so that Phil and I can go to a friend's wedding.  Yay for a date night!  We love that she is so willing and able to help out with her little brother.  And he is always so happy to be around her.  No doubt they will both have so many wonderful lifelong memories together from this special bond.

We even shared a few tears this week.  I had to drop Kayleigh off at her Mom's house for a night, and when Jackie saw his sister walking away from the car, he began to whimper and then cry.  This made Kayleigh's eyes well up.  And then Mama joined in.  It was just hard on my heart to see both of them upset.  I guess that's how much they love each other.  Despite the look on Jackie's face in this picture.

Apparently, I left Kayleigh alone with Jackie a little too long.  Ha.

Did I mention that Kayleigh has 2 brothers?  Jackie and Spongebob.  Bob is adopted.
 Fun times at the pool...

What better place to flex your muscles?
 With Grandma and Grandpa.

Hope everyone enjoys a little "spring" soon!

  2. Aw, so sweet! Man, I sure wish I had had a kid about 12 years ago. Sounds like it would have been a winning idea :) You tell K that she is so great, and she can come stay with me anytime!
